Rients Dijkstra is a Design Fellow of Urban Design at TU Delft, and partner of PosadMaxwan.
He holds a degree in architecture and urban planning from TU Delft. Between 1991 and 1994, Rients worked at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). After founding the firm Maxwan in 1994, he worked on the design and implementation of projects including the Utrecht suburb Leidsche Rijn, Rotterdam Central Station, the Antwerp ring road, and Barking Riverside London, as well as on prizewinning designs for urban public space. He served as the Dutch Government Advisor on Infrastructure and the City from 2012 to 2016, advising the state on urban development and the interplay between cities and mobility. He was appointed part-time professor of urban design at TU Delft in 2015, and now continues as Design fellow with a focus on urbanism education.
